Kate Kaman (b.1981 Cleveland, Ohio) and Joel Erland (b.1978 - Coimbra, Portugal) are contemporary visual artists drawing inspiration from botany and organic life. Multi-disciplinary skills-- ranging from traditional sculptural techniques to cutting edge computer manufacturing processes--enable this dynamic duo to create contemporary environmental artworks. Since 2005, Kaman and Erland have created artworks for civic and corporate clients from Los Angeles to Boston, and Miami to Seattle. Clients include universities, developers, and municipalities. For these artist, successful public art comes through active dialogue with community leaders, engineers, architects and other creative spirits. When on the East Coast, they work out of a historic silversmithy in Philadelphia--a city with a rich legacy of public art. When on the West Coast, Kaman and Erland have been known to work out of a vintage Airstream somewhere between a big redwood tree and Mount Rainier.
